Our Introduction to WordPress training has been created to give you the ability to create website design in WordPress for a business. WordPress is one of the most used and versatile website platforms currently on the internet. Originally designed as a blogging tool, it has a huge base of modders who have created over 27,000 plugins and addons that add functionality to any WordPress website.
This Introduction to WordPress training course is tailored to assist individuals with little or no knowledge of websites to design a content management system (CMS) website in WordPress by customising WordPress to meet aesthetic needs (via themes) and add functionality (via plugins). At the end of the course you will be able to develop and deploy a website and know how to maintain and update it. The course is ideal for small business owners, freelancers, and self-employed persons who need their own web presence but cannot afford to pay to have a site designed, maintained and hosted for them.
Who Should Attend
The course requires some knowledge of HTML and CSS to be undertaken. Learners will greatly benefit from an understanding of how HTML and CSS are used to design websites. It will assist you in identifying and resolving issues related to your site.
Course Content
This course will cover the following:
- Content Management System and how they work.
- An introduction to WordPress
- Configuring WordPress and understanding the administration layout
- Working with themes and customising themes
- Installing and configuring Addons and Plugins like a Contact Form module in WordPress
- Installing and configuring Addons and plugins like a Picture Gallery module in WordPress

- Decide on a host for your site,
- Create a Theme for your site
- Create a WordPress Website
- Install a theme from WordPressâ free themes
- Work with plugins (installations and configurations)

Course format
The course will carry on from learning developed in the Introduction to âHTML and Web Designâ course. There is no examination for this course. Learners will undertake an intensive 2 day course that will introduce learners to the subjects of CMS, creating websites, creating templates, troubleshooting and maintaining a website.
This course is held at 5-7 Museum Place, Cardiff, CF10 3BD however if you’re unable to get to Cardiff we also offer the course through Zoom or at your venue should you have a minimum number of candidates.
