What can we offer you?

Our Institute of Leadership and Management training modules are new and innovative programmes. These management programmes have been designed to reflect the present economic climate and enable candidates to complete our ‘fast-track’ programme. Our training modules consist of blended learning (face to face, online, Zoom and 1-2-1 support for completion of assignments). All training materials will be provided, including the use of our training platform. Assignment support is provided through a 1-2-1 basis via Zoom/face to face, as well as through emails and phone calls if required.

The ILM Level 4 in Leadership and Management is ideal for individuals who have management responsibilities but no formal training and are serious about developing their abilities. This program particularly supports practising team leader/s seeking to move to the next level of management and managers who need to lead people though; organisational change, budget cuts or for personal development.

ILM Level 4 Assignments

You should plan to spend approximately 7 hours researching your workplace context, preparing for and writing or presenting the outcomes of each assignment for assessment. The ‘nominal’ word count for each assignment is 1000 words: the suggested range is between 1000 and 1500 words.

Course Modules

To complete and achieve a Level 4 Award in Leadership and Management, you will need to sit and submit an assignment for a minimum of 2 modules chosen from below:

Module 1: Developing People in the Workplace

The purpose of this module is to offer knowledge to be able to plan the personal development of individuals in the workplace. These will include enhancing the participants’ skills in fostering team development and leadership qualities.

Learning Outcomes

  • Understand the importance of promoting personal development

  • Use tools to build skills in developing the performance of team members
  • Ability to plan career development conversations for their team
  • Increased confidence in managing and leading abilities

Module 2: Managing a Healthy and Safe Environment

  • The purpose of this module is to develop an understanding and ability to be able to manage a healthy and safe environment as required by a practising or potential middle manager. These outcomes are designed to equip participants with the necessary skills to manage workplace environments proactively and safely.

Learning Outcomes

  • Understand the importance of working in a healthy and safe environment
  • Be able to manage a healthy and safe environment
  • Understand and apply relevant health and safety legislation and regulations.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments to identify potential workplace hazards.
  • Develop and implement effective health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Promote a culture of health and safety awareness among all employees.
  • Respond effectively to health and safety incidents and emergencies.

Module 3: Managing Marketing Activities

The purpose of this unit is to develop understanding and ability to be able to manage a healthy and safe environment as required by a practising or potential middle manager. The learning outcomes aim to enhance the participants’ abilities to manage marketing efforts strategically and effectively.

  • Understand the concepts involved in managing marketing
  • Be able to manage a healthy and safe environment
  • Able to develop and execute effective marketing strategies aligned with business goals
  • Able to analyse market trends and consumer behaviour to inform marketing decisions
  • Able to manage and optimise marketing campaigns across various channels
  • Lead and motivate a marketing team to achieve set objectives
  • Measure and report on the performance of marketing activities to assess ROI.

Module 4: Motivating People in the Workplace

The purpose of this unit is to be able to examine how levels of motivation can be improved to increase performance in the workplace.

Learning Outcomes

  • Understand the factors that may affect performance and motivation in the work place
  • Be able to improve levels of motivation and increase performance in the workplace
  • Able to utilise active listening and emotional intelligence to understand and address team members’ motivations
  • Able to implement positive reinforcement and constructive feedback techniques to encourage and motivate staff

Module 5: Solving problems by making effective decisions in the workplace

The purpose of this module is to enable candidates to make effective decisions to solve complex problems in the workplace.

  • Able to apply decision making techniques when assessing possible solutions
  • Able to plan how you will implement the solution
  • Able to analyse complex workplace problems using a systematic approach

  • Communicate decisions effectively to stakeholders to facilitate implementation and buy-in

Module 6: Managing Risk in the Workplace

The purpose of this module is for learners to be able to manage risks in the workplace covering various industries.

Learning Outcomes

  • Understand the importance of managing risks in the workplace
  • Be able to identify and manage risks in own area of responsibility
  • Identify and assess potential risks within the workplace using established risk management frameworks
  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies
  • Monitor and review risk management processes to ensure effectiveness
  • Communicate risk assessments and strategies clearly to all levels of staff to promote a culture of safety and risk awareness.
