Host Families Wanted in Cardiff Areas
CCW – Lookout for Host Families
Wales training experts CCW Training Academy are asking for host families to take part in a programme to help young Europeans develop skills, confidence and professionalism to allow them to return home and secure sustainable employment.
They want families to consider hosting young people undertaking short-term work placements and training in Wales through EU-funded schemes.
The company said that host families find hosting students a rewarding experience for the contact it gives them with young people of different nationalities.
CCW Director, Mike Tan, said: “Do you have a spare bedroom available? Would you like to share your culture and experiences with others while simultaneously learning about theirs? If so, why not join other families in hosting an international student.
“We prefer our young students to stay with local families as they have chance to practice their English and learn about the way of life in the UK. Many of our host families have hosted students for many years and enjoy sharing experiences and learning about each other’s countries.
“Host families with children in particular benefit from meeting children from other cultures, and often long-lasting friendships spring up.
“Staying with a host family gives our students a fantastic opportunity to immerse themselves into a new culture and the English language.
“The experience is enriching and rewarding for both students and hosts alike. Students benefit immeasurably from conversing in English in a relaxed, natural situation, such as over dinner.
“As hosts you can rest assured that students are selected with great care and are expected to abide by your own customs and have reasonable expectations. You will also receive payment on a regular basis for hosting an international student.
“We are committed to the highest standards of student care and support. Our accommodation managers take great care in matching suitable students and hosts. Both families and students are supported throughout the stay and our accommodation managers keep in close contact,” he said.
CCW said that the benefits of hosting were:
- The chance to meet students from all over the world
- Experiencing different cultures and traditions
- The opportunity to share your home country’s traditions and cultures
- Many organised activities
- An active and experienced local support team at CCW
- Prompt payment
Programme Manager at CCW, Dan Tan, said: “Do you have a spare room that is decorated to a good standard, clean & private? Do you enjoy meeting people from all over the world? Could you provide a warm welcome to an international guest? Could you welcome an extra weekly income?
“Would you welcome added company? Are all members of your household happy that you have decided to host? Would you like to host for only a short period of time – usually only a couple of weeks – without the inconvenience of a long-term guests?
“We are always looking for caring host families, as we believe that students have a great opportunity to improve their English when they live with a family. Our homestay co-ordinators have experience of hosting students themselves, so are able to give advice about a range of issues and will support you throughout the student’s visit.
“We always welcome new families to our group and we would be pleased to tell you more about hosting if you are interested, so just get in touch with us at: info@careerchangewales.co.uk he said. Contact on: 02921156603
