Flower Arranging Course, PROFESSIONAL FLORISTRY (5-day course)

Floristry is an exciting and varied career that will keep you on your toes. It is a lot more than just playing with flowers. Getting the right technical knowledge is essential as it is the foundation for other opportunities within the flower industry. You could be running your own business, freelance for other florists, choose to specialise in events, funerals, floral art or go on to manage the retail/wholesale side of the industry.
Each day covers theory as well as practical aspects. This is the perfect platform to ask lots of floristry questions to set your mind at ease. There are no practical assessments. Attendees will receive a Certificate of Attendance on full completion of the course.

- The common and botanical names of frequently used commercial flowers and foliage
- An introduction to the Elements and Principles of Floral Design
- An introduction to Colour Theory
- Learn the art of spiralling by creating a bouquet
- Know the various flower arrangement shapes
- Create table centrepieces using floral foam and non-foam alternative
- An introduction to wiring techniques
- Create a wired wearable corsage
- Aftercare tips and advice to prolong the life of the flowers
- How to cost materials and price for retail
- Trends and social media
Part 2 – Course Outcome
- Know where to buy flowers commercially
- Know the conditioning methods for various flowers
- Ability to recognise common florist jargon, commercial flower names and foliage
- Ability to create a simple handtied bouquet
- Ability to create a table centrepiece
- Ability to wire a wearable accessory
- Know what to do when flowers under perform
- Know how to cost and price the design confidently
- Know the importance of trends and who to follow on social media
Course Format
The course includes all the fresh materials, sundries and handouts.
Guidance is given throughout the course.
Attendees take home the arrangements that they create at the end of the course.
